Origin
Cake the Cat is Jake the Dog's gender-swapped cat counterpart from an alternate universe hidden within the Ice King's mind. She, alongside her adopted sister, Fionna the Human, debuted in the ninth episode of Adventure Time's Season 3, amptly titled "Fionna & Cake", as part of the Ice King's in-universe fan-fictions.
Just like Jake and Finn, Cake also spends most of her time adventuring around her version of the Land of Ooo alongside Fionna. She has Stretchy Powers and can morph her body just like Jake. As a cat, she also possesses the ability to see in the dark. The fur on her tail stands on the end (or "frizzes out") when there is danger around or when she gets excited (for example, when Lord Monochromicorn, her boyfriend, speaks to her).

Lore
- In the Official "Stars Collide. Pies Fly." Launch Trailer, Cake is seen fighting and taunting Marvin the Martian on The City of Townsville. She is later joined by Stripe who goes on to fight the Iron Giant, who joins forces with Marvin. Cake is later seen inside Throne Room alongside most of the other Fighters featured in the trailer, as they all prepare to fight The Joker.
Trivia
- Cake's teeth were altered in Season 1 to better reflect their appearance in Adventure Time.
- Cake, Evil Morty, and Commander X2 are currently the only "Substitute" Variants so far to have a Variant of their own, with the Variant in this case being Calico Cake.
