Rick Sanchez of Dimension C-137 is a Fighter from the Rick and MortyUniverse in MultiVersus. He was revealed on July 22nd, 2022 at San Diego Comic Con and was released on September 27th, 2022, during the Open Beta period.
Rick Sanchez C-137 is one of the titular central protagonists of the 2013 Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty, created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. Rick, alongside Morty, first appeared in the short film The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti, a parody of Universal's Back to the Future film series. When the two pitched the idea to Adult Swim, the channel pitched Rick and Morty, with the first episode airing on December 2, 2013. Rick, like Morty, was voiced by Roiland until 2022 following allegations of domestic violence and abuse, with Multiversus being one of Roiland's last roles as the character, albeit through archived dialogue.
Rick is an alcoholic, nihilistic, reckless, and megagenius scientist who's considered by many to be the smartest man in the universe, as well as its most wanted criminal. He's Beth's father, Jerry's father-in-law, and Morty & Summer's grandpa. While not an actual villain, Rick has done enough heinous acts throughout the show to solidify himself the title of an antihero.

Lore
If the events depicted in his Reveal Trailer are to be taken as canon, than Rick is implied to have gotten himself involved in the story by his own volition, as he is seen entering Trophy's E.D.G.E. via one of his portals, stopping a fight between Reindog and Wonder Woman and bringing multiple Meeseeks with him.

MEESEEK AND DESTROY Rick summons a Meeseeks that runs forward. Press up input after summoning the Meeseeks to have him uppercut instead. Down input will make the Meeseeks ready a golf club swing. Golf club Meeseeks will swing when an enemy gets near him or if a PROJECTILE gets close, REFLECTING it.

PORTAL THEORY Rick aims then summons a portal, and can summon a max of two. Allied PROJECTILES teleport between portals if there are two available. Fighters can also teleport through the portals, but portals can only teleport one fighter before shrinking and becoming restricted to PROJECTILES. Rick will immediately teleport after summoning a second portal. If there is only one portal, teleporting through it will bring the fighter to a new portal next to Rick. Allies can press DODGE to teleport through a portal. Fighters will get teleported if they are KNOCKED BACK into a portal. While on COOLDOWN, Rick instead shoots forward on his rocket skiis.
AERIAL PORTAL STUNTS Similar to ground, but if Rick has not already summoned a portal, he will summon two. One will be at the location he is aiming and the other will be next to him.

Rick was revealed to be a playable fighter in MultiVersus.
Trivia
Rick's quote from the official website originally incorrectly said "day ex machina" instead of "deus ex machina". Player First Games CEO and CoFounder Tony Huynh thought that this change could've been intentional.[4]
The quote was eventually fixed on September 1st, 2022.
The quote was also taken near-verbatim from an episode of Rick and Morty, where it is correctly pronounced "deus".
Rick was meant to appear on the Tech Tests/Closed Alpha title screen alongside a Mr. Meeseeks, but they were both scrapped due to Rick not being revealed in time and were placed by Finn and BMO instead.
Although the Rick we see in-game is the one from the C-137 dimension (the main Rick from the show), he has two recycled voice lines in which he states that he's either the Rick of the D-716 dimension or the Rick of the D-716B dimension.
Rick's Grounded Neutral Special is named after the Meeseeks' debut episode.
Rick, Harley Quinn, and Morty are, currently, the only Fighters in the game who can swear if the player has toggled the "Mature Language" option on in the Settings menu.
Batman and The Man in Black also say the "badass" and "ass" swears respectively, but the game doesn't count them as being mature language.
In the Open Beta, Rick and SEAL Team Rick, as well as Morty and Evil Morty, were originally voiced by Justin Roiland (via his archived recordings from the first five seasons of Rick and Morty), before being replaced by Ian Cardoni following a controversy.
