Princess Diana of Themyscira, better known as Wonder Woman, is a Fighter from the DC Universe in MultiVersus. She was revealed alongside the game itself on November 18th, 2021, and is part of the game's initial release roster, having been playable since the first Tech Test.


Wonder Woman (real name: Princess Diana of Themyscira) was created by William Moulton Marston, an American psychologist who in 1940 discussed the underutilized potential of the comic book medium in an interview with Family Circle, a homemaking magazine. This interview caught the eye of publisher Max Gaines, who hired Marston as an educational consultant for his company, National Comics Publications; which eventually merged with Gaines' other company, All-American Publications, into the first incarnation of DC. At the suggestion of one of Marston's wives, Elizabeth, Marston made his superhero a woman, and, unlike other female comic book characters, was depicted as a strong, callous fighter with themes of polygamy, as Marston was in a polyamorous relationship with his wives Elizabeth and Olive. In the wake of the Second World War, Wonder Woman, alongside other members of DC's Justice Society of America, were used as propaganda in a vein similar to fellow publisher Timely Comics' (now competitor Marvel Comics) Captain America, often being shown fighting Nazis and other members loyal to the Axis Powers. Following the war and into the Silver Age of Comic Books, these aspects of her character were toned down heavily and often changed, though most depictions since the Bronze Age keep the World War II aspects preserved in a historical context.

In some interpretations of the character, Wonder Woman appears to be the biological daughter of the Greek gods Zeus and Hippolyta, and was given life as an Amazon.

A fierce warrior, proud commander, and kind leader, Diana was sent to the World of Man by the Amazons to act as a champion of peace. She’s defeated countless villains both by herself and as a founding member of the Justice League, and she has served as an inspiration for a whole new generation of heroes.[1]


Wonder Woman can absorb the toughest blows anyone tries to throw at her. But with her sword at her side and her lasso to pull foes in, she dishes it out just as well as she takes it.

Default Variant

Wonder Woman's default look appears to be largely based on her design from DC's Wonder Woman (Vol. 5) comic book series, which was in-itself part of the larger DC Rebirth Initiative.

Wonder Woman lunges forward with ARMOR, and her shield raised. While the shield is raised it BLOCKS incoming PROJECTILES. If a PROJECTILE is BLOCKED, Wonder Woman can instantly attack again. CHARGE to keep the shield raised. Wonder Woman can move back and forth while her shield is raised. Allies that Wonder Woman passes will receive ARMOR.
Wonder Woman delivers a forward flying-punch.

Similar to her Grounded Side Special, but a shield dash upward. Allies can use Wonder Woman's shield as a PLATFORM while she GLIDES.

If in range, Wonder Woman will dash to her ally, CLEANSING them of debuffs and giving her and her ally a SHIELD. SHIELDS are similar to ARMOR, but blocks both KNOCKBACK and DAMAGE from the next incoming hit. SHIELDS also increase Wonder Woman's BRACER METER when hit. COOLDOWN applies.
Same as ground.

When Wonder Woman BLOCKS a PROJECTILE with her shield or gets hit while ARMORED, she fills a meter which is used to power up her AMAZON SHOUT.

1.05 Mid-Season Patch

Wonder Woman has been feeling a little strong since the official launch. We want her to keep her identify as the easy-to-pickup, armor tank, but in that vein we don’t think she should be able to score ringouts easier than the rest of the cast. These changes should make her feel a little easier to play against while slightly toning down her KO power.

  • Passive
    • ~ Blocking a projectile will only charge Wonder Woman’s passive if the projectile has an active hitbox. This will fix issues where Wonder Woman could gain a full passive charge from projectiles like Jerry or Bugs’ Safe
  • Ground Up Attack
    • – On-hit branch window delayed 3 frames
  • Ground Down Attack
    • – Additional damage from passive charge reduced
    • – Additional knockback from passive charge reduced
    • – Self-applied armor now falls off after the hitbox ends; ally armor unchanged.
  • Air Side Attack
    • – On-whiff branch window delayed 2 frames
    • – Damage reduced to 9 from 11
    • – Knockback scaling reduced to 19 from 20.5
    • +Knockback increased to 1350 from 1250
      • Base knockback was increased to account for the lower knockback from the reduced damage

    • ~ Reduced duration visually in attack pose; branch windows and hitbox timing unchanged

We are aware of Wonder Woman’s strength and are assessing ways to bring her more in line with the current cast of fighters. These balance changes will be introduced into an upcoming patch.

Wonder Woman’s lasso was a bit too oppressive to play against without any limiter, so we decided to add a short cooldown to the ability.

    • Can no longer be used if Wonder Woman has reached her air specials limit.

    • This attack can now be canceled into other actions earlier.

    • Increased the window where Wonder Woman is unable to fast fall out of this attack.

    • Delayed this attack’s active frame window by 2 frames in order to prevent it from hitting far above Wonder Woman.

    • Wonder Woman’s Shield of Athena perk can no longer destroy Marvin Spaceship

    • Fixed a bug on Defense Of The Gods that would trigger Wonder Woman’s shield twice when she was hit

    • Fixed bug where Amazon Shout’s vfx would not match hitbox scaling.

    • Weight reduced to 66, down from 71.

    • Fixed an issue causing players to be stuck in Wonder Woman's Ground Up Special for an elongated period of time.

    • Fixed an issue where Wonder Woman could branch into dodge or jump on whiff but could not branch into another attack until much later. The dodge/jump whiff branch window has been increased by 5 frames, and the attack branch window has been adjusted to line up with the dodge/jump branch window

    • Increased whiff recovery by 8 frames

    • Land cancel window delayed by 6 frames on grounded version (Air version unaffected)

    • Fixed a bug where Wonder Woman using her lasso in air and then landing would cause the animation to not play.

    • Fix for ground up special floating sometimes not triggering.

Season 1.04 Patch

    • Removed instant cancel on hit.
    • This is to remove the double air up special leading to very early kills.
  • - Ground Neutral Attack
    • Increased startup by 1 frame.

    • Increased whiff lag by 8 frames.
    • This attack was extremely safe, blocks projectiles, and can be a devastating kill move when charged so we felt we needed to add a drawback.

  • ~ Sound: New Sound Effects to make hits feel more powerful.
  • + Side Air Attack: Increased hit pause on hits to make the attack feel more powerful.
  • - Base Movement Speed: decreased from 2300 to 2250.
    • Wonder Woman speed was causing her to be more oppressive than we intended.
  • - Aerial and Grounded Neutral Special: Cooldown increased from 8 to 13 seconds.
    • Lasso was available too frequently and made Wonder Woman oppressive to fight against.
  • - Side Air Special: Movement distance can no longer be controlled to make the attack more committal.
  • Bug Fix: Grounded Down Attack hitbox is now more in line with the visuals.
