Variants, also known as Skins or Costumes, are a type of cosmetic item that can be collected in MultiVersus. Variants take the form of alternate designs for Fighters to take on during battle. Each fighter has a variety of Variants that are either designed specifically for the game or taken directly from each fighter's history. Certain Variants also have unique animations and/or voicelines, many of which replace the Fighter with other characters.
Original, part of the Trigon Possessed set. Its design takes inspiration from the look of the Justice League members possessed by Trigon in Justice League vs. Teen Titans.
Original, part of the FestiVersus set. His sweater depicts the Batmobile with its back wheel left behind in reference to the popular "Jingle Bells" parody "Jingle Bells (Batman Smells)".
Original, part of the Trigon Possessed set. Its design takes inspiration from the look of the Justice League members possessed by Trigon in Justice League vs. Teen Titans.
Based on his design from the 2019 Looney Tunes Cartoons animated series, although he lacks the yellow gloves he wore in that show, instead wearing white gloves like in most of his other incarnations. The LTC design in itself is inspired by Bob Clampett's interpretation of the character from the Bugs Bunny shorts of the early 1940s.

Hollywood Bugs
Based on his outfit from the beginning and ending of the 1947 Merry Melodies short "A Hare Grows in Manhattan", but without the beret.
Based on Bugs' pianist outfit from the 1946 Merrie Melodies short "Rhapsody Rabbit". His name and render reference the "Leopold" persona that he embraces in the 1948 short "Long-Haired Hare".
Original, part of the Crossover set. It features Bugs Bunny dressed up as Superman. Its design might be inspired by Bugs Bunny's appearance in the 1943 Merrie Melodies short "Super-Rabbit" and in the similarly named The Looney Tunes Show series finale "Super Rabbit".
Original, part of the Festiversus set. The sweater itself features the phrase "Duck Season" in reference to both Daffy Duck and to a famous joke involving the two from the 1951 Merrie Melodies short "Rabbit Fire".
Finn's Grass Demon-Human Hybrid doppelgänger, who made his debut in the thirteenth episode of season 8, "Reboot". He was born after the Grass and Finn Swords merged into one being by accident.
Fern starts out wanting to emulate Finn and become a hero just like him, believing himself to be the real Finn Mertens. He later learns that isn't true, which leads to him having an existential crisis and developing an inferiority complex after failing to protect Ooo while Finn was away at sea, culminating in Fern trying to take complete control of Finn's life, getting "killed" by Finn, and reincarnating as the Green Knight.
Based on Garnet’s first ever form, which appeared when Garnet’s components, Ruby and Sapphire, fused together for the first time in the 22nd episode of season 2, "The Answer".

Mad Love Harley Quinn
Based on Harley's incarnation in the DC Animated Universe, specifically her depiction in the 1992 Batman: The Animated Series cartoon show.
The outfit that she uses in this incarnation is Harley's most recognizable design, and it has been used in a lot of DC-related animated shows, comic books, video games (especially in the entries from the LEGO Games series) and crossover collaborations. Its title also references the 24th episode of Batman: The Animated Series, "Mad Love".
Original, part of the Beach Ready set. The Variant gives Harley a two piece, black and red swimsuit. She also has two large bracelets, sandals, and a large, polka-dot bow around her head.
Original, part of the Earth 20-XXe set. The Variant gives Harley Quinn more frizzled pigtails, futuristic headphones, a black crop top with a red sleeveless jacket, jean shorts, cybernetic legs, and a futuristic-looking mallet.
Based on Harley Quinn's original identity of Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel, the persona she uses while working as a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum. The Variant's look seems to be largely based on Dr. Quinzel's design from the Max original Harley Quinn show.
Original, part of the Festiversus set. It depicts Harley dressed in a winter sweater, having elf ears, and bigger pigtails. Her mallet is now wrapped up in Christmas gift packaging, and its handle is now a candy cane.

Cake
Jake the Dog's gender-swapped cat counterpart from an alternate universe hidden within the Ice King's mind. She debuted in the ninth episode of Adventure Times Season 3, "Fionna & Cake".
Just like Jake and Finn, Cake also used to spend most of her time adventuring around her version of the Land of Ooo alongside Fionna (prior to its alteration). She has Stretchy Powers and can morph her body just like Jake. As a cat, she also possesses the ability to see in the dark. The fur on her tail stands on the end (or "frizzes out") when there is danger around or when she gets excited (for example, when Lord Monochromicorn, her boyfriend, speaks to her).
Based on Jake's shapeshifter form, debuting in the ninth episode of season 9, "Skyhooks II". Its name is the same as the title of the tenth episode of season 10.
Based on Jake's depowered form that he's turned into by Floradulcina The Witch in the fourteenth episode of season 1, "The Witch's Garden". He has mud all over his body, a reference to how in the episode Jake mistakenly believes that rolling in a magical mud puddle is originally what gave him his magical powers (and it also a serves as a sort of explanation of how Jake can still use his magical powers in this Variant).
Original design based on most classical depictions of the character. The chain that's seen wrapped around his neck originates from Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.

Commander X2
Based on Martian Commander X2, Marvin's counterpart from the 2003 animated series Duck Dodgers, itself inspired by the 1953 Merrie Melodies short "Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century". In said show, Commander X2 is the commander of the Martian military as well as Duck Dodgers' arch enemy. He is in love with the Martian Queen, Queen Tyr'ahnee, whom he serves without question. Despite their many battles, he considers Duck Dodgers to be more of a nuisance than an actual enemy. The Variant's render is based on an official piece of Marvin stock art.
Based on Marvin's referee outfit from the original 1996 Space Jam movie. Its title is a bit misleading, as Marvin was never a part of the Tune Squad in that movie, acting as a neutral party instead.
Based on Marvin's basketball outfit used in merchandise and promotional material for the 2021 Space Jam: A New Legacy movie. Its render pose is taken from a 1991 Looney Tunes style guide.
Morty Smith of Dimension 79⊢⊇V, commonly known as Evil Morty, is one of the many versions of Morty from across the multiverse, but unique in being notably amoral, ruthless and displaying intelligence rivaling that of Rick C-137. He initially appeared alongside Evil Rick, who was hunting down and killing several Ricks throughout the multiverse. It was later revealed Evil Rick was merely being controlled by Evil Morty, although he remained undetected and traveled to the Citadel by posing as one of the Mortys liberated from Evil Rick's lair. He served as the first Morty to be democratically elected President of The Citadel, and had consolidated his power in a coup by eliminating any disagreeable Ricks in the Shadow Council of Ricks. He later used this rise to power to fabricate an escape from the Central Finite Curve, destroying almost the entire Citadel and killing countless Ricks and Mortys in the process. The Variant's design is based on his Story Train's counterpart's outfit from the sixth episode of season 4, "Never Ricking Morty".
Based on Morty's mech suit that he used in the episode "Promortyus".

Original, part of the Trigon Possessed set. Its design takes inspiration from the look of the Justice League members possessed by Trigon in Justice League vs. Teen Titans.
Original, part of the Mythic Vista set. Its design might've been partly inspired by Raven's appearance in the Teen Titans comics written by Kami Garcia.
Original character. His design is based on the anatomies of dogs (overall body-shape, long tail) and reindeers (his antlers). Some parts of his design might've been inspired by Chinese Dragons (the unorthodox shape of his head, his whiskers), though this was never confirmed. He has green and beige fur, possibly in order to symbolize a theme of nature. He also sports a floating heart-shaped gem, known as the gem of power, that floats above his head and in-between his antlers.

Battle Reindog
Based on ancient Roman centurion armor. His gem of power is in the shape of a diamond at the top of his helmet.
Based on an Egyptian mummy. His gem of power is in the shape of a scarab beetle, an insect commonly associated with mummies.
The choice to replace Reindog's heart shaped gem of power with a scarab beetle could be related to the ancient Egyptian practice of replacing a mummy's heart with a heart scarab.
Based on The Mad Hatter from Lewis Carroll's famous Alice book duology. His gem of power is in the shape of a pocket watch (likely referencing the White Rabbit's pocket watch from the same story), with an ace of hearts card placed behind it (representing the gem's original heart shape).
Released to cross-promote the 2024 edition of Shark Week, an annual shark-themed summer programming block on the Discovery Channel. Its title is a reference to the megalodon (Otodus megalodon), an extinct species of large mackerel shark that lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago, from the Early Miocene to the Pliocene epochs.
Based on festive Día de los Muertos decorations. The Variant gives Reindog Mexican sugar skull face paint, a sombrero with flowers around the brim, and a light tan tuxedo. It is titled after Reindog's name in the game's Latin American localization.
Based on his normal design. Its render comes from an officially licensed "Acid" T-shirt.

SEAL Team Rick
The SEAL Team Ricks were an elite special operations unit fielded by the Council of Ricks to eliminate extreme threats to the security of the Citadel who only appeared in the first episode of the season 3, "The Rickshank Rickdemption". They were all quickly killed by Rick C-137. The supposed leader of the group, Headband Rick, is the design used for this Variant.
Based on Rick Sanchez of the Prime Dimension (the same one the playable Morty is from), the original overarching antagonist of the show. He was the killer of Rick C-137's wife Diane in all dimensions. Rick spent a large part of his life trying to hunt him down, which he eventually did in the episode "Unmortricken".
Based on Rick's outfit from the episode "Rickmurai Jack". Rick takes on this new outfit after replacing Morty with two crows as his sidekicks in the previous episode, "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall".
Based on his older, more rugged appearance from the first episode of season 5, "Episode XCII". Near the beginning of the episode, he arrives with a suit of traditional samurai armor and a motorcycle to defend a family from a group of Beetle Drones. The name "Lost Jack" is in reference to both him losing his sword and his hope of saving the world from Aku by this point in the series.
Based on his older, more rugged appearance from season 5, specifically in "Episode XCIV". The Variant removes his robe and gives him an unkempt beard and hairstyle. Instead of his sword, he wields a kanabo.
Mad Jack was the embodiment of Jack's inner negative emotions, temporarily given form by Aku to defeat him using his own skills against him. He made his first appearance in "Episode VIII: Jack versus Mad Jack." He lost his physical form after Jack found inner peace and caused Mad Jack to cease. When Aku destroyed the last remaining time portal, Jack's rage brought Mad Jack to resurface again as Inner Jack, where he continued to plague Jack's psyche for most of Season 5 until he found inner peace once more in "Episode XCVIII", this time bringing about his end permanently.
Based on his "dot-eyed" design used in the Scooby-Doo shows made in the 70s and early 80s by Hanna-Barbera and in most Scooby-Doo movies and shorts created by Warner Bros. Animation from the 2010s onward.

Uncle Shagworthy
Uncle Shagworthy is Shaggy's "zillionaire" uncle whose only appearance prior to this game was in the sixth episode from the first season of The Scooby-Doo Show, "Scared a Lot in Camelot", although he was also briefly mentioned in the 1999 PC game Scooby-Doo! Mystery of the Fun Park Phantom. Uncle Shagworthy greatly resembles his nephew, in both design and personality, sharing his cowardice and love for food, but, as a wealthy gentleman, he is also more refined and eccentric.
Original, most likely based on the character Ryu from the Street Fighter franchise, as it can be seen performing a hadoken on the cover for the final issue of MultiVersus: Collision Detected. The beard comes from his Battle Suit 1 alt in Street Fighter V. Might also be semi-inspired by actor and martial artist Chuck Norris.
Based on the team uniforms Shaggy and the rest of Mystery Inc. wore in the 9th episode of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, "Battle of the Humungonauts".
Based on Steven Universe's Pink Diamond outfit that he wears for several episodes in season 5. This Variant has Steven wear an outfit resembling that of Pink Diamond, one of the four Diamond rulers of the Gem Empire.
The Brain Gremlin is one of the mutated Gremlins seen in Gremlins 2: The New Batch, who drinks a "Brain Hormone" that allows him to speak in perfect english directly to the humans on behalf of his species.

One Million Superman
One Million Superman, also known as Superman Prime, is the Superman of the 853rd Century who survived by becoming the living extension of the sun after a certain cataclysm destroyed Krypton. He left Earth somewhere in the late 21st Century when everyone he cared about died. He traversed the entire DC Universe, going beyond time and space, and has been said to have reached as far as Heaven and Hell themselves. He made his debut in DC One Million #4.
Black Lantern Superman is the Black Lantern version of Earth-Two's Superman, also known as Kal-L, who made his debut in Blackest Night: Superman #1. Just like the rest of the Black Lanterns, he works for Nekron, the Lord of the Unliving, and his purpose is to eliminate all life.
Original, part of the Festiversus set. The Variant gives Superman the hat and beard of Santa Claus. The windmill and truck depicted on his sweater are a reference to the Kent Farm, the place where Superman was raised, under the name of Clark Kent, by his adoptive human parents Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Original, part of the Beach Ready set. The Variant gives him a boonie hat, a short sleeved red blue shirt with red highlights, white cargo pants, some sunscreen on his nose, and a fanny pack with his 'S' emblem on it.
This Variant is based on Superman's Recovery Suit, also known as the Regeneration Suit. After Superman was killed by Doomsday in the "The Death of Superman" comic arc, his body was placed in a healing pod by the Kryptonian android Eradicator. When the pod succeeded in bringing Superman back to life, he emerged from it in a black version of his suit with no cape.
Original, part of the Earth 20-XXe set. The Variant gives Superman a set of metallic armor with blue highlights on his legs, arms, and chest as well as giving him glowing blue eyes.
Based on Superman's human alter-ego, Clark Kent: an average every day journalist. His design is taken from numerous iconic imagery of Clark opening up his shirt to reveal the Superman logo.

The Batman Who Laughs
The Batman Who Laughs is an evil version of Batman who originates from the Dark Multiverse. After killing the Joker, he was infected with Joker Venom that slowly corrupted him and turned Bruce into a twisted amalgamation of Batman and Joker. He is the team leader of the Dark Knights and their goal was to help their master Barbatos plunge the Multiverse into complete and utter darkness.
Original, part of the Trigon Possessed set. Its design takes inspiration from the look of the Justice League members possessed by Trigon in Justice League vs. Teen Titans.
The Rowdyruff Boys (Brick, Boomer and Butch) are major antagonists in the series. They are the male but wicked counterparts of the Powerpuff Girls created by Mojo Jojo via flushing armpit hair, snails, and a puppy dog tail down a prison toilet containing a potency of Chemical X. Brick is the short-tempered and abrasive leader of the trio; Boomer is the loud mouthed and dumbest of the trio; and Butch is the dangerous and hyperactive berserker of the trio. After dying to kisses from the girls, they are resurrected by HIM and acquire spikier hairstyles.
Based on their pirate outfits from the 2006 direct-to-video movie Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers. Jerry's "captain" outfit, in particular, comes from the very end of the movie.
Based on two episodes of The Tom and Jerry Show. Tom's design draws from the season 3 episode "Vampire State" while Jerry's design originates from the season 1 episode "Vampire Mouse".
Based on Tom & Jerry's 19th Century London outfits from the 2010 direct-to-video crossover movie Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes. Jerry's outfit is also a direct reference to the aforementioned Sherlock Holmes, while Tom's outfit references Dr. Watson, Sherlock's trustworthy assistant and best friend. Its title also references the name of the street Sherlock and Watson lived on, Baker Street.
Based on the swim shorts worn by Tom in "Beach Bully", the 6th episode of 1975's The Tom & Jerry Show, and by Jerry in "Beach Bully Bingo", the 29th episode of Tom and Jerry Tales. The Variant also gives both of them snorkeling glasses and tubes, Tom also gains a pair of sandals.
Original, part of the Earth 20-XXe set. The Variant gives Tom & Jerry cybernetic punk-themed outfits consisting of glowing green hair (a mohawk for Tom and a top knot for Jerry), teal jackets and pants, green shirts, and green boots.
Original, part of the Crossover set. It features Tom & Jerry dressed up as Batman and The Joker respectively. Might've been inspired by merchandise depicting the duo as part of the Warner Bros. 100 celebration.
Based on Tom & jerry's karate outfits from the 1962 short "The Tom and Jerry Cartoon Kit". However, Tom is lacking the pants from that short. It may also be inspired by the 2005 short "The Karate Guard" in which Jerry learns karate to defend himself from Tom.
Original, puts her in a black cat-themed witch outfit. There are a few instances in the Scooby-Doo franchise where Velma did wear witch-themed outfits, which might've inspired the Variant.
Original, part of the Festiversus set. The Christmas Tree depicted on her sweater features Scooby's tag as its star, and three Scooby Snacks as its presents.
Original, part of the Beach Ready set. The Variant gives her an orange one-piece swimsuit, a pair of red wing-tipped glasses, and a yellow beach towel wrapped around her waist.
Based on the team uniforms Velma and the rest of Mystery Inc. wore in the 9th episode of season 1 of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, "Battle of the Humungonauts". The Variant also gives Velma the two small red hair bows she wore in the show.
Black Lantern Wonder Woman is Wonder Woman's Black Lantern alter-ego which she gains after receiving a Black Lantern Ring and subsequently getting killed by a supposed Black Lantern Batman in Blackest Night: Wonder Woman Vol. 1 #1. Just like the rest of the Black Lanterns, she works for Nekron, the Lord of the Unliving, and her purpose is to eliminate all life.
Original, part of the ValentiNeon set. Its title references Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation, who also appears in the DC universe.
Original, part of the Beach Ready set. The Variant gives her a brighter colored two piece that resembles her default outfit and modern sandals. Her weapons have also been swapped out for beach and pool related equivalents: her sword is now a pool noodle, the shield is now a life preserver, and her lasso is now a normal rope.
Based on Wonder Woman's golden eagle armor that debuted in 1996's Kingdom Come (Vol. 1) #3 comic book issue. The armor was also prominently featured in the 2020 DCEU movie Wonder Woman 1984.
Based on Wonder Woman's appearance in the DC Bombshells storyline.

Unique Voiceover
Certain Variants have unique voicelines and grunts that differ from their base Fighter.
Variants with unique voiceover
Some Variants that are directly based on alternative versions of the Variants listed above also reuse their unique voicelines, these include:
Spacesuit Morty and President Morty who reuse the unique VO of Evil Morty.
Calico Cake who reuses the unique VO for Cake.
Headmaster Wayne who re uses the unique VO for Bruce Wayne.
Originally, the Summer Break Superman and Summer Break Superman (July 4th) Variants also used to reuse Clark Kent's unique VO, before being changed in a later patch. It's unknown if these Variants using Clark Kent's voice might've meant that they were originally meant to portray Superman in his Clark Kent persona, or if it was simply just a bug.
Unique Animations
Certain Variants have unique animations that differ from their base Fighter.
Beachcomber Taz hat fixed to look more like his profile icon.
Trivia
General
Certain Variants also replace their base Fighters' weapons. For example, Evil Morty uses a trident as opposed to Morty's axe and Bruce Wayne throws stacks of cash instead of batarangs.
While most of the Variants with unique voiceover share the same Voice Actors as their base Fighters, some of them are voiced by different actors:
Cake is voiced by Roz Ryan.
Fern is voiced by Hayden Ezzy.
The Batman Who Laughs is voiced by Roger Craig Smith.
The Man in Black is voiced by Imari Williams.
The Rowdyruff Boys are voiced by Roger L. Jackson (Butch) and Rob Paulsen (Brick & Boomer).
Uncle Shagworthy is voiced by Daniel Ross.
During the Offline Mode hiatus, all Variants that were released in-game beforehand were available for free.
The rarity of each Variant (and by extension their cost) generally determines what amount of differences they share from their respective default versions. Many of the Variant's rarities were changed during the game's full launch to better align with these conditions, though they are not absolute.
RARE Variants are often different outfits. Infrequently, these alts can have unique animations. They are priced at 800 .
EPIC Variants are usually drastically different outfits (or forms) from the default. The majority have at least one unique animation, typically being a unique stance (in the lobby and loading screens). Some also have unique victory and losing poses. They are priced at 1,500 .
LEGENDARY Variants have unique stances, entrance animations, victory poses, and losing poses. Many also include completely unique voice lines. They are priced at 2,000 .
ELUSIVE Variants are Variants that can only be earned as part of limited-time events. Aside from that, they have no particularly consistent traits.
Some Variants, typically RARE ones, reuse other Variant's unique animations. For example, Showdown Shaggy uses the same stance animation first used by Ultra Warrior Shaggy.
Multiple Variants were featured in the McDonald's collaboration:
The Animated Series Batman and Samurai Batman were included on sticker sheets intended to be put over cards with Batman on them.

Pirates Tom & Jerry was included on a sticker sheet intended to be put over a card with Tom & Jerry on it.
Luau Velma and Astronaut Velma were included on sticker sheets intended to be put over cards with Velma on them.

Agent Smith
The Matrix Code Agent Smith Variant was originally supposed to be part of the Agent Smith's Source Code Bundle, but was swapped out for Cyber-Smith Agent Smith.
Prior to Season 3, the Matrix Code Agent Smith Variant used to be listed as being UNCOMMON.
Arya Stark
Ugly Sweater Arya's in-game render erroneously depicts her using her red Team Color.
Batman
The Animated Series Batman was originally simply known as The Animated Series prior to the Season 1.06 Patch.
Samurai Batman was originally simply known as Samurai in the Closed Alpha.
In the Open Beta, Ugly Sweater Batman's lobby animation used to be the same as his fighting stance.
Currently, every opposing Ugly Sweater Batman will spawn with its cape looking red. This applies regardless of if the Team Colors option is turned on or not.
Bugs Bunny's concept art render.
Betelgeuse
All Betelgeuse-related Variants were originally had his old Beetlejuice name used prior to Season 4.
Black Adam
Notably, The Man in Black Variant has the Heroic tag, different from the Villainous tag most other Black Adam Variants have. This is reflective of the outwardly heroic portrayal the character has in the 2022 movie the Variant originates from.
Bugs Bunny
Early trailers and teasers for the game showcased Bugs wearing yellow gloves instead of white ones, which was more in line with his depiction in Looney Tunes Cartoons.[1]
A concept render for Bugs found inside the game files during the Technical Tests suggests that his default depiction was initially going to be based on his design from Season 1 of The Looney Tunes Show. It was likely scrapped due to the show's sitcom-style not suiting Bugs and his moveset, and generally being out-of-character for that version of him.
Hollywood Bugs was originally called Bougie in the Closed Alpha.
The color of Hollywood Bugs' glasses was changed from pink to brown in the transition from the Closed Alpha to the Open Beta.
Hollywood Bugs' unique defeat animation was changed twice in the Open Beta from how it looked like in the Closed Alpha.
This technically makes Bugs Bunny the third Fighter to have had his defeat animation changed after Garnet and Reindog.
This could suggest that Robot-Arm Finn could've been later repurposed as Variant that would've used the Night Sword instead of Finn's normal Scarlet sword in order to differentiate it more from the Default Variant.
Fern was originally intended to recycle Finn the Human's voice lines (performed by Jeremy Shada) before the developers at Player First Games reconsidered hiring Hayden Ezzy after a huge fan outcry.[2]
Prior to the Full Launch Season 2 Patch, Garnet's in-game model used to have a wrong color scheme, while her lobby model (which she currently uses) had the correct color scheme.
When Season 1 (Open Beta) first released, even if Team Colors were toggled off, Flashback Garnet would've always appeared in her Blue Team color in-game. This bug was later fixed in the Season 1.02 Patch.
Certain members of the MultiVersus community have noticed that the blinking red light that's seen on the TV from Variants's reveal video appears to be morse code for the word "shenanigans".[3] This word would later turn out to be a passcode in the "What's in the box?!?!" Community Challenge.
Beach Party Garnet has also been referred to as Beach Volleyball Garnet (or Beach VolleyBall Garnet) in promotional material for the first round of Full Launch Twitch Drops.
Prior to the 1.05 Mid-Season Patch, Beach Party Garnet' lobby animation used to be glitched, as she didn't fully close her eyelids when assuming her meditating pose.
Tooniverse Garnet's is erroneously based on Garnet's old incorrect in-game color scheme.
Gizmo
Combat Gizmo used to be listed as RARE in the Open Beta.
Weirdly enough, the in-game advertisement for the 2022 FestiVersus! event listed Merry Mogwai Gizmo as being RARE instead of EPIC.
Harley Quinn
An official screenshot from the website reveals that Mad Love Harley Quinn's original name was Classic Harley Quinn.
It was also known as simply Mad Love in the Open Beta.
Task Force X Harley Quinn was simply known as Task Force X in the Open Beta.
Love Rave Harley Quinn was originally known as just Love Rave Harley in the Open Beta.
Iron Giant
Matrix Code Iron Giant's render and lobby model are based on the Giant's Classic Variant.
It also reuses the Classic Variant's lobby animation.
Afterlife Iron Giant's render doesn't include the "S" symbol.
Hypergalactic Puppet Iron Giant reuses the Giant's Default lobby animation, despite being based on the Classic Variant.
Jake the Dog
Cake's original model featured bulkier fangs which did not fit their appearance in Adventure Time. The model was later altered in Season 1 (Open Beta) in order to rectify this mistake.
Calico Cake used to be listed as being EPIC in the Open Beta.
A screenshot from a Steam announcement revealed that Jake the Starchild was originally meant to be a part of the Season 1 (Open Beta)Battle Pass. [4]
LeBron James
LeBron's concept render.
According to his concept art, LeBron's Default Variant was originally meant to be based on his real life counterpart's Lakers outfit.
Lola Bunny
Queen of the Court Lola Bunny was accidnelty briefly purchasable with 800 when Season 5 first began.
Marvin the Martian
Prior to the Season 2.02 Patch, a glitch was causing Commander X2's render to not show up on his tag.
Commander X2 is erroneously referred to as Marvin X2 on Marvin the Martian's promotional poster.

Morty
President Morty was originally listed as UNCOMMON in the Open Beta.
Evil Morty was originally listed as EPIC in the Open Beta.
In the Open Beta, Morty and Evil Morty, as well as Rick, were originally voiced by Justin Roiland (via his archived recordings from the first five seasons of Rick and Morty), before being replaced by Harry Belden following a controversy.
This meant that Evil Morty didn't have unique voicelines like he currently does.

Reindog
Battle Reindog, Golden Reindog, Chef Reindog, Tea Time Reindog, Guardian Reindog, and Holiday Reindog were originally simply known as Battle, Golden, Chef, Tea Time, Guardian, and Holiday respectively prior to the ValentiNeon Patch.
Prior to the FestiVersus! Patch, Tea Time Reindog didn't have its render in-game, re-using, instead, Reindog's Default render to represent itself.
The New Year Patch refers to Guardian Reindog as Red Guardian Reindog.
Prior to the 1.05 Mid-Season Patch, Tooniverse Reindog was simply titled Tooniverse.
On December 19th, 2024, a video promoting the Unicorndog Variant was released on the game's official TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, which parodied the Charlie the Unicorn video by online indie animator FilmCow, using direct audio from the video. FilmCow would later criticize this promotional video, due to him not being asked permission for the use of the audio.[5]
The promotional video would later be deleted due to community backlash.
Rick
SEAL Team Rick is referred to as SEAL Rick on Rick's promotional poster.
Prior to the Season 1.04 Patch, Mech Suit Rick's silhouette used to appear around Rick whenever he dashed in his Default Variant, leaking the Variant roughly two years before being officially revealed and released.
On release, Rick Prime shared the same lobby animation and gun as SEAL Team Rick.
Shaggy
An official screenshot from the website revealed that Uncle Shagworthy's default Team Color was originally blue instead of red.
Uncle Shagworthy used to be listed as EPIC in the Open Beta.
Kung Food Shaggy was originally named Shaglee in the Tech Tests, a portmanteau of the names Shaggy and Bruce Lee.
A screenshot from the official website reveals that an even earlier name for this Variant was 36 Chambers of Snacking, which might be a reference to the 1980 martial arts comedy film Return to the 36th Chamber by Shaw Brothers Studio.

Ultra Warrior Shaggy was originally known as Black Belt in the Tech Tests.
Originally, Ultra Warrior Shaggy's pants, gloves, and headband were depicted as being blue in-game. The blue clothing can still be seen on his current render.
Due to a glitch, Shark Hat Shaggy will always give Shaggy the Sunglasses from his currently unreleased Sunglasses Shaggy Variant before losing its first stock.
This glitch also used to cause the Variant to have a unique entrance animation where Shaggy put on the glasses. The animation was later removed.
On October 15th, 2024, Batman 85th Shaggy's shirt was changed from black to yellow. Despite this, his in-game render still showed him with a black shirt.
In Season 4, the Batman 85th Shaggy (Black) Variant was released as a separate Variant.
Steven Universe
Steven's model was changed by Player First Games on 1 March, 2022, with the help of a fan, at the request of the Steven Universe community to make it more authentic to the show.

In the initial reveal trailer for the game, Coach Steven's undervest appeared to be orange.
The megaphone used in Coach Steven's current render appears to be untextured.
Stripe

Superman
All of One Million Superman's and Trigon Possessed Superman's grunts and quotes are the same as Superman's, but with a voice filter put over them.
One Million Superman was originally simply known as One Million in the Open Beta.
Black Lantern Superman was originally known as Black Lantern in the reveal trailer.
Black Lantern Superman's in-game color scheme has been heavily altered compared to his color scheme used in the Technical Tests.
Ugly Sweater Superman's old illustrated render had him holding a coffee mug with the logo of the Daily Planet (the newspaper Superman works for under the identity of Clark Kent) on its side. The mug seen on his current 3D render has its textures glitched.
A different, "extended" version of Summer Break Superman's reveal video was uploaded on the game's official Instagram account. This version included the phrase "Scooby Doo Superman" written on one of the tapes seen in its background, which would later act as the first passcode in the "What's in the box?!?!" Community Challenge.
Taz
Beachcomber Taz was originally named Summertime Taz in the Closed Alpha.
The color of Beachcomber Taz's straw hat band was temporarily changed from red to yellow at the beginning of Season 1 (Open Beta), but was eventually reverted to its original color after the Season 1.02 Patch.
At the beginning of Season 1 (Open Beta), if Beachcomber Taz faced left while Team Colors were off, his Team Color would automatically turn to red. This bug was eventually fixed in the Season 1.02 Patch.
Tune Squad '96 Taz was originally listed as Common.
Tune Squad '96 Taz and Tune Squad Taz were originally simply known as Tune Squad '96 and Tune Squad respectively prior to the ValentiNeon Patch.
When the Tooniverse Taz Variant was first released, its eyes used to be yellow.
The Joker
The Batman Who Laughs was the first Variant to have an Announcer Pack in the game.
The Powerpuff Girls
The Rowdyruff Boys are currently the only Variant in the game that changes their base Fighter's idle animation.
Tom & Jerry
Pirates Tom & Jerry was simply known as Pirates in the Closed Alpha.
Tom's hair can be accidently seen using glitched textures on Vampire Tom & Jerry's render.
Baker Street Tom & Jerry was originally known simply as Baker Street in the Tech Tests.
When Shark Hat Tom & Jerry first released, it accidently used the currently unreleased Sunglasses Tom & Jerry's render to represent itself.
Velma
Luau Velma was originally known as Hula in the second Tech Test.
Witch Velma used to be listed as EPIC in the Open Beta.
Astronaut Velma was originally known as Space in the second Tech Test.
Astronaut Velma's colors have been drastically changed in the ValentiNeon Patch, as the Variant looked all bright orange prior to its current design.
Prior to the Spectator Mode Patch, Ugly Sweater Velma's default color would've always been green in-game even with the Team Colors option turned off.
Wonder Woman
Bloodlines Wonder Woman was originally known simply as Bloodlines in the Open Beta.
