Samurai Jack is a Fighter from the Samurai Jack Universe in MultiVersus. He was revealed on July 20th, 2024, during EVO 2024, and was released alongside Season 2 on July 23rd.

Origin

Jack, also known as Samurai Jack or simply the Samurai, is the alias taken by a Japanese warrior prince with an unknown birth name who acts as the titular protagonist of the cartoon, Samurai Jack. Since youth, Jack trained in many different areas under numerous teachers in a variety of skills to defeat the demon Aku. However, Aku's time travel spell sent Jack eons into The Future, where he ruled all of Earth unopposed. Jack made it his mission to find a way back to his time and prevent Aku's dystopia. Throughout his travels, Jack became an infamous freedom fighter, protecting and aiding numerous civilizations and innocents terrorized by Aku's forces and other malevolent foes. Due to his many revolts against Aku's rule and being the only person capable of killing him (because of his divinely crafted sword) he was the most wanted man in the world. After more than 50 years, Jack finally returned to the past and defeated Aku, creating a beautiful and a brighter future.

In-Game

After a lifetime of wandering, the warrior known only as Jack has become a true force to be reckoned with. Between his incredible agility to his deadly swordplay, he has many tricks up his sleeve to defend himself as he navigates the Multiverse.

A running spin kick that knocks enemies forward.

FACE MY BLADE
Jack CHARGES a forward stab. If fully CHARGED, an Aku Beetle Drone will leap toward Jack. Jack will dodge the beetle and slice it in half with a powerful sword slash.
WHIRLING SWORD
Jack spins multiple times with his sword close to his body.

Jack's COMBO begins with a kick, followed by multiple sword slashes.

Jack CHARGES a forward slash.

PRECISION STRIKE
Jack CHARGES then stabs his sword down into the ground.
DOWNWARD SLASH
Jack slashes his sword downward. His sword has a SWEETSPOT if it hits an enemy at the end of it's slash.

BLADE OF VENGEANCE
While ARMORED, Jack readies his sword then thrusts its hilt foward, if his ARMOR is broken during the attack but he is not KNOCKED BACK, he initiates a counter-attack. During this attack, Jack targets the enemy that broke his ARMOR and launches a sword slash PROJECTILE towards them. If Jack has an ally nearby they will also receive ARMOR, which, if broken, will initiate Jack's counter-attack. With full FOCUS, the slash PROJECTILE becomes a HEAVY PROJECTILE and Jack will also grant ARMOR to his ally regardless of their distance from him.
LIGHTNING REFLEXES
Jack GRABS then throws his opponent, BREAKING ARMOR. If Jack GRABS an enemy PROJECTILE, he will throw it back at his foe, REFLECTING it, Jack is ARMORED while throwing enemies or PROJECTILES.

LIGHTNING STRIKE
Jack readies a dashing sword strike, choosing the direction of attack. When the strike begins he teleports to his destination, hitting any enemies inbetween him and his starting position. With full FOCUS, Jack will dash back and forth during his attack.

STORM OF BLOWS
Jack CHARGES then jumps into the air and kicks enemies. With full FOCUS, Jack will be ARMORED during the attack. Jack will perform the FOCUS version of his special air down if he performs it immediately after the FOCUS version of this attack.

Similar to ground without CHARGE.

AKU'S BANE
Jack CHARGES rapid slashes with his sword. The longer the CHARGE, the more slashes Jack will do. With full FOCUS, Jack will do the full amount of slashes without CHARGING.
DESTRUCTIVE DESCENT
Jack darts downward and drags his sword infront of him. With full FOCUS, Jack will create a shockwave HEAVY PROJECTILE in front of him if he lands on the ground during the attack

PASSIVE ABILITIES THE MARK OF A SAMURAI / MENTAL FOCUS / CALM YOUR MIND
TMofS: If Jack has an ally, some of his attacks will deal a MARKED DEBUFF. Allies that hit enemies with MARKED will convert MARKED into a stack of WEAKEN. / MF: Whenever Jack his enemies with melee attacks or is KNOCKED BACK, his FOCUS meter fills partially. Once it is full, Jack's special attacks are powered up, but performing them will set his FOCUS back to zero. FOCUS attacks have increased power and deal WEAKEN. Jack only has a short amount of time where he can perform FOCUS attacks before his FOCUS resets. / CM: While crouching, Jack will meditate. Meditating consumes some of his FOCUS and turns it into GRAY HEALTH for him and nearby allies.

1.2.2 Mid Season Patch
Samurai Jack was released as an incredibly popular new fighter, and players immediately found success with his strong side special and quick Focus Meter gain. We’re hoping to tone down his side special as a “do everything” attack and also reduce the number of times players can use his super strong Focus Meter attacks in a single game. This should bring him more in line with the rest of the cast.

    • * Fixed an issue where Jack was rotated perpendicular to terrain when terrain bouncing
    • * Fixed issue where Jack’s dance animation wouldn’t play when affected by Gizmo’s “Rhythm’s Gonna Getcha” perk

    • – Attack will now only transition to multiple slashes if the first attack hits an enemy

    • * Fixed an issue where Jack would sometimes move behind his enemy and whiff his counter attack

Full Launch Season 2 Patch

  • Samurai Jack was added in the game as a playable Fighter.
