Arcade (Classic) V0.1
Arcade (Classic) (also known as Arcade Classic or Classic Arcade) is an independent game mode in MultiVersus. It was released on October 31st, 2022 alongside Black Adam. The mode released in its Alpha V0.1 state, implying more changes and improvements were on the way.
The mode ultimately went missing in the game's Full Launch, likely in favor of the similar Rifts mode.
About
Arcade Classic is a game mode that has the player fight against random computer-controlled Fighters in various 1v1 fights (although the mode can be played with a friend, which will turn all battles into 2v2 fights). The number of fights the player has to go trough ranges from 3 to 8 depending on what difficulty the player chooses (this also affects the numbers of rematches the player has). Fighter has two stocks (if the player plays with the friend their team will then have 4 stocks instead) and the time limit consists of 7 minutes. On single player fights, the 2 vs 2 variations of the Cromulons, Sky Arena/Sky Arena Platforms, and Tree Fort Maps are banned (On two player fights the 2 vs 2 variations of those maps will be banned instead). Items are turned off. Enemy fighters have a chance of a appearing in one of their Variants. Two "boss battles" occur in this mode:
- An enhanced version of Gizmo (in his Combat Gizmo Variant), nicknamed "Feral Gizmo", that has decreased knockback and deals higher damage. Takes place in the middle of a route.
- An enhanced version of Reindog (in either his Battle Reindog or Golden Reindog Variant), nicknamed "Reign Dog", which has decreased knockback, deals higher damage, has higher speed, dodges a lot, and can occasionally get big (Morphised). Takes place at the very end of a route.
There's also a battle against the Fighter's respective "Nemesis Rival" before the Reign Dog battle. Rivals are characters that usually have something in common with their respective Fighter. They also almost always appear in one of their Legendary Variants. Each Fighter's respective rival can be seen below:
Fighter | Rival |
---|---|
Arya Stark | Reindog |
Batman | Harley Quinn |
Black Adam | Superman |
Bugs Bunny | Taz |
Finn the Human | Jake the Dog |
Garnet | Steven Universe |
Gizmo | Stripe |
Harley Quinn | Batman |
Iron Giant | Gizmo |
Jake the Dog | Finn the Human |
LeBron James | Taz |
Marvin the Martian | Rick |
Morty | Steven Universe |
Reindog | Jake the Dog |
Rick | Morty |
Shaggy | Velma |
Steven Universe | Garnet |
Stripe | Gizmo |
Superman | Batman |
Taz | Bugs Bunny |
Tom & Jerry | Taz |
Velma | Shaggy |
Wonder Woman | Superman |
- NOTE: As the mode is still in its Alpha state, some Fighters may end up fighting a different rival then their respective ones, or the rival may end up being represented by a different Fighter's icon on the progression map. It is also possible that the rivals will change in the future as more Fighters are added to the game.
After completing a Fighter's classic route, a star will appear on their respective slot from the Character Select screen which will have either a 1 or a 2 inside to indicate whether the player has completed that character's route by himself or with a friend respectively. The color of the star will also change depending on the difficulty the player has managed to beat the route (bronze for Easy, silver for Medium, and gold for Hard).
