Dexter's Laboratory
- This article is about the Maps. For the Universe, see Dexter's Laboratory (Universe).
Dexter's Laboratory is an available Map in MultiVersus hailing from the Dexter's Laboratory Universe. It was revealed through concept art shown in the Official Developer Update video released on March 11th, 2024. It was released alongside the game's Full Launch on May 28th, 2024. It has 9 variations
Origin
Dexter's Laboratory is the eponymous scientific facility that serves as the central recurring location of Dexter's Laboratory, where Dexter creates his many inventions. The lab is Dexter's most heavily guarded secret and does his best to keep his family ignorant of its existence, with the exception of his goofball older sister Dee Dee who is always messing around the lab and causing havoc for her own amusement. The aforementioned Dee Dee can also be seen on the Map, running in the background, with Dexter's Quadraplex T-3000 Computer, Robo-Dexo 2000 fighting mech, and Monkey also making silent cameos. Various messages can be seen displayed on the Computer's monitor. The map also features a sticker of Albert Einstein as a background element, using its design from the episode "Dexter's Rival", and a sticker depicting a hand with the word "ALTO" written on it, which comes from the show's intro, where it can be seen on Dexter's room's door.
Layout
Dexter's Laboratory
Dexter's Laboratory is a procedurally generated auto side-scrolling Map. The first, and main, module of the Map is divided in three different sections with gaps in-between them. The left and right sections feature conveyor belts that will push Fighters who stand on it in either the left or right direction. Button can be seen at the sides of both sections, which change the direction the Map is currently scrolling through when pressed. The middle section consists of a body that is place a little under the level of the other sections and features conveyor belts on its side that either push Fighters who grab them upwards or downwards.
As the Map is a procedurally generated auto side-scrolling Map, there are multiple modules that can be generated. The Map will always change its layout from match to match, introducing multiple gadgets to the fray, including the aforementioned conveyor belts and buttons, moving platforms, diodes, tubes, and holo-platforms. With Hazards turned off, the diodes will be inactive.
Dexter's Laboratory 2
This variation is designed for competitive play, removing all Hazards from the original Dexter's Laboratory, including the side-scrolling features. As such, the Map is stuck on only one module composed of a large body, accompanied by two small platforms situated at both ends of the body, with two more smaller platforms situated above them. The Computer in the background will only show "Dee Dee Alert" and does not change.
Dexter's Laboratory 2 (1v1)
Same as above, but the overall size is smaller.
Dexter's Laboratory 3
Similar to Dexter's Laboratory 2, this variation is stationary and has a large body with four platforms (two small, two large). However, the arrangement of the smaller platforms is different, now being lower than the other platforms and closer to the middle of the Map. Also like 2, the Computer does not change from the "Dee Dee Alert" screen.
Dexter's Laboratory (Module 1)
This (and the following 4 variations) is a stationary version of an individual Module seen in the Map's first version. Module 1 has two solid platforms: one with a treadmill on the top and tube through the middle (extending from the side to near the bottom), and one with a button on its left side. A green wireframe platform extends to the bottom of the right platform, while two red wireframe platforms (one connecting the two solid platforms and one connecting extending to the bottom of the Map.
Dexter's Laboratory (Module 2)
This Module has three solid platforms: a small body at the center, and two at the top, each with a button on its bottom. There are two green wireframe platforms symmetrically placed below the higher solid platforms, and four red wireframe platforms: two placed in the space between the green wireframes and the middle solid platform, one placed in the center above the same middle platform, and one between the above solid platforms. The fourth acts as a roof, preventing Fighters from entering the top blastzone from the center.
Dexter's Laboratory (Module 3)
This Module has a large body with a dip in the center. This dip features a treadmill with a red wireframe platform floating above it. At both sides of the treadmill are diodes. Depending on which direction the treadmill is moving, the respective set of diodes will be turned on. The diodes on the right have a button.
With Hazards turned off, the diodes will be inactive.
Dexter's Laboratory (Module 4)
This Module has three solid platforms: a body on the left side, a trapezoid shaped roof above it, and a long rectangular one on the right side. The last of those has a treadmill on its right side, which initially moves down toward the bottom blast zone. In between the right and left platforms is a pair of diodes covering the gap. The higher platform has a button at its center and tubes on both ends of its bottom side. These tubes lead down to the bottom platform, with one going up to the platform's top and another extending straight into the bottom blast zone (guaranteeing a ringout). These tubes directions can be swapped with a button press.
With Hazards turned off, the diodes will be inactive.
Dexter's Laboratory (Module 5)
This Module is similar to the 2nd variant of the Map, but with treadmills (moving away from the center) instead of solid platforms. There is no button on this Map, meaning the treadmills' direction can not change.
Theme Songs
Dexter's Laboratory
A remix of the Main Theme of Dexter's Laboratory.
Dexter’s Laboratory (Chiptune Version)
A chiptune arrangement of the aforementioned Dexter's Laboratory remix. This version is bundled with the normal Dexter's Laboratory remix, and will play when the default Map and its module variations turn orange (after the Map turns its scroll direction upon the press of a button) or when the competitive variations turn orange (either when there is only one ringout left to be scored or when the first ringout is scored).
As of the 1.05 Mid-Season Patch, the song has a chance of playing on its own on Module 5 and the competitive variations too.
