Dexter's Laboratory
- This article is about the Map. For other uses, see Dexter's Laboratory (Disambiguation).
Dexter's Laboratory is an available Map in MultiVersus. It was revealed through concept art shown in the Official Developer Update video released on March 11th, 2024. It also has variation designed for competitive play called Dexter's Laboratory 2.
The first variation had been initialy pulled from the Online Map rotation following community complaints (only being playable in the Training, Local, and Custom Game game modes), but, as of the beginning of Season 3, has been added to the FFA map pool. A normal form would later be added in Season 3 for the map's second variation, while its default form would be relocated to the 1v1 map pool.
Origin
Dexter's Laboratory is the eponymous scientific facility that serves as the central recurring location of Dexter's Laboratory, where Dexter creates his many inventions. The lab is Dexter's most heavily guarded secret and does his best to keep his family ignorant of its existence, with the exception of his goofball older sister Dee Dee who is always messing around the lab and causing havoc for her own amusement. The aforementioned Dee Dee can also be seen on the Map, running in the background, with Dexter's Quadraplex T-3000 Computer, Robo-Dexo 2000 fighting mech, and Monkey also making silent cameos. Various messages can be seen displayed on the Computer's monitor. The map also features a sticker of Albert Einstein as a background element, using its design from the episode "Dexter's Rival", and a sticker depicting a hand with the word "ALTO" written on it, which comes from the show's intro, where it can be seen on Dexter's room's door.
Layout
Dexter's Laboratory
Dexter's Laboratory is a procedurally generated auto side-scrolling Map. The first, and main, module of the Map is divided in three different sections with gaps in-between them. The left and right sections feature conveyor belts that will push Fighters who stand on it in either the left or right direction. Button can be seen at the sides of both sections, which change the direction the Map is currently scrolling through when pressed.
The middle section consists of a body that is place a little under the level of the other sections and features conveyor belts on its side that either push Fighters who grab them upwards or downwards.
As the Map is a procedurally generated auto side-scrolling Map, there are multiple modules that can be generated. The Map will always change its layout from match to match, introducing multiple gadgets to the fray, including the aforementioned conveyor belts and buttons, moving platforms, diodes, tubes, and holo-platforms. The game doesn't count this modules as being hazards.
Dexter's Laboratory 2
This variation is designed for competitive play, removing all Hazards from the original Dexter's Laboratory, including the side-scrolling features. As such, the Map is stuck on only one module composed of a large body, accompanied by two small platforms situated at both ends of the body, with two more smaller platforms situated above them.
Dexter's Laboratory 2 (1v1)
Same as above, but the overall size is smaller.
Theme Songs
Dexter's Laboratory
A remix of the Main Theme of Dexter's Laboratory.
Dexter’s Laboratory (Chiptune Version)
A chiptune arrangement of the aforementioned Dexter's Laboratory remix. This version is bundled with the normal Dexter's Laboratory remix, and will play when the default Map turns orange (after the Map turns its scroll direction upon the press of a button) or when the second variation turns orange (when there is only one Ringout left to be scored).
As of the 1.05 Mid-Season Patch, the song has a chance of playing on its own on the Dexter's Laboratory 2 variation only.
