Bonus Nodes are a type of node in the PvE Rifts mode in MultiVersus. Rather than battles, these Nodes usually take the form of mini-games. Losing in them will typically not affect progress for the rest of the Rift.

Shooting Gallery

Shooting Gallery is a Bonus Node where the Fighter takes control of a cannon in order to shoot objects in the background.

The shootable objects include Joker balloons, wich will float up from bottom, and Targets, which move in an arc from the sides of the Map. Shooting multiple in a row without missing will a multiplier to the player's points (up to x6).

So far, this mini-game has only been played in Batcave map.

Target Break

MvsBuff TargetBreak.png

Target Break is a Bonus Node involving breaking Targets and collecting Coins.

The player(s) is given a limited time to break all the available targets. They can also collect star-shaped coins for additional points.

There are several variations to this gameplay type. These mini-games are played on an exclusive void map which can change heavily depending on the set difficulty.

Target Run

Target Run is similar to Target Break, but instead of a static map the player(s) can traverse at their own pace, the Map's camera and blast zone will scroll to the right constantly. This means the player(s) will only have a limited opportunity to collect coins and break targets.

Target Climb

Target Climb is also similar to Target Break, but instead of scrolling horizontally, the screen scrolls horizontally, forcing the player(s) to ascend upwards.

Treasure Chest!

Treasure Chase!.png

Treasure Chest! is a Bonus Node where the player(s) have a limited time to attack a source that expels coins, gems, and jewels.

If enough damage is dealt, a golden Drumstick may also drop, a one-time item which is required for a star on that node.

Treasure Chase!

Treasure Chase! is a version of Treasure Chest! where the source of treasure is instead another Fighter. The fighter will move to the edge of the Map and run away when the player(s) attempt to approach them.

Joker's Wild

MvsBuff CardMatch.png

Joker's Wild is a Bonus Node that acts as a match-3 memory game.

A series of 6 cards are shown: three are Batman King cards, three are "BANG" Jack cards. These cards are then hidden and shuffled around, with the player needing to find the 3 Batman kings once the shuffling ends. Matching 3 "BANG" jacks before Batman Kings will result in a loss.

So far, this mini-game has only been played in Batcave map.

Jump Rope

MvsBuff JumpRope.png

Jump Rope is a Bonus Node where the player must jump as long as they can over the Lasso of Truth.

Superman and Wonder Woman hold the Lasso of Truth like a jump rope and skip it for the player(s), progressively moving it faster and faster. Touching the rope will result in an instant KO. This continues until a certain amount of successful skips is reached (typically 50).

Using Superman's Hover Taunt would infamously cause his feet to not touch the ground, negating the entire challenge. This was later fixed, preventing any Taunts from being used at all.

Laughing Gas Chase

MvsBuff LaughingGas.png

Laughing Gas Chase is a Bonus Node similar to Target Run.

Rather than destroying targets or collecting coins, the player(s) must outrun the insta-kill laughing gas from the left of the screen by moving to the right.

Tanks!

Tanks!.png

Tanks! is a Bonus Node where the player(s) controls a Tank to fend of ACME Sky Drones from destroying a crystal.

The ACME Sky drones come in 3 varieties

  • A normal, one hit drone.
  • A small, fast moving drone.
  • A large, multi-hit drone

Sometimes, defeated drones will drop powerups for the player's tank.

  • Rocket - Shoots three short ranged rockets.
  • Mini-Bullets - Shoots faster, smaller bullets that require no charge.
  • Grenade - Shoots large grenades that create large explosions that can attack multiple drones at once.

Volleyball

Golf

Golf is a Bonus Node where players must play a 4 hole golf course.

All Players take control of a golf-club wielding Mr. Meeseeks, with the goal of hitting the ball into a hole within one swing. Players start with 5 balls, and will lose one ball if they fail to get a hole in one. The game ends if the player either loses all their balls or completes all 4 holes.

Temple Raider

MvsBuff AdventureLevel.png

Temple Raider is a Bonus Node where players navigate a maze.

All players begin at a starting point and must traverse in search of the exit portal. Along the way, colored walls may block their path. These can be opened by collecting the gem of that color. Optional routes exist that hold coins.

Grid Escape

Grid Escape is similar to Temple Raider but with a technology theme.

Instead of collecting gems, the player must destroy colored Security Nodes to open walls and reach the exit door.

Coffin Run

Coffin Run is similar to Temple Raider but with an afterlife theme.

Instead of collecting gems, the player must collect three colored graves. These do not open walls or doors, instead simply opening the course's exit.

Rainbow Three

Rainbow Three is similar to Temple Raider but with a Powerpuff Girls theme.

Instead of collecting gems, the player must destroy Mojo Jojo bombs from harming captive Toastys.

Race

MvsBuff RaceCar.png

Race is a Bonus Node where players drive a car around a race course.

Players are pinned against 4-5 opponents, all driving Gizmo's toy car. They must lap around the course three times, using an end portal leading them back to the start to do so. Along the way, players can use speed boosters to gain speed and coins to obtain items of various applications.

  • Rockets can be shot to opponents in front a car
  • Bombs can explode around a car to stun opponents.
  • Speed Boosts can give the car a short boost

Up, Up, and Away!

Up, Up, and Away! is a Bonus Node where players shoot enemies while flying.

This node takes the form of a 2D shooter, where players must shoot lasers at incoming ACME Sky Drones. These take place on a map referred to as "Sky".

This is so far the only Bonus node to be used for a boss fight, being Mojo Jojo's in Naptime is Over.

Trivia

  • While, many of these bonus nodes use modified versions of existing Maps, some have unique maps tailored to them. These Maps often use the game's main menu theme as its music.
    • A space "void" map with metal platforms.
    • A beach themed map with sand platforms.
