Synopsis

MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 / Level One: The Rabbit, The Witch, and The Star Child

Bruce Wayne, Diana Prince, and Clark Kent each wake in a cold sweat, troubled by strange dreams they’ve had about “the rabbit,” “the star child,” and “the witch.” Their investigation into these enigmatic visions brings them to unexpected locales and unusual characters, but none more unusual than the mysterious “rabbit” from their dreams as they find themselves face-to-face with the one and only Bugs Bunny. What the heck is going on here? And who in the name of the Multiverse are “the star child” and “the witch”?

Two kids, Madison and Dylan, are playing a fighting game as Batman and Superman. Dylan complains about the lack of a story within the game, as a mysterious figure passes by their treehouse. Elsewhen, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman end up in a strange, otherworldly area. The scene is revealed to be a bad dream, as Clark wakes up and burns a strange glyph onto his wall: a child baring a star on his stomach. Clark can't find anything on the glyph, but (with Lois Lane's help) finds that Wonder Woman and Batman have shared the same dream but saw different glyphs: Bruce saw a glyph of a bunny, and Diana saw a glyph of a witch. Before they can discuss further, the three enter a fugue state and suddenly wake up outside the house of Avia (daughter of Scott Free and Big Barda). They find she is hiding someone in her closet, which turns out to be the bunny the heroes are looking for: Bugs Bunny.

MultiVersus: Collision Detected #3

Mayhem In The City Of Tomorrow! Metropolis’s newest city-wide battle has everything: Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, a child with a gem on his shiny round tum-tum, a sprite-sized Dark Knight, and… the Head. (It’s that thing where Brainiac’s code gets overwritten by an inebriated scientist who couldn’t be bothered to hang around for the entire issue!)

MultiVersus: Collision Detected #4

Start your engines! “The Clown Princess of Crime.” “The Maiden of Mischief.” “PhD.” Call Harley Quinn anything you want, but don’t you dare try to take away her cuddly-wuddly new best friend from another universe! Clear the crosswalks and fasten your seatbelts as Harls leads the Justice League and a skyful of multiversal champions through the streets of Gotham City on a physics-bending, law-breaking, rubber-burning race to the finish…that will leave one champion’s life hanging in the balance!

MultiVersus: Collision Detected #5

With a countdown clock ticking down toward zero and skies filled with the villainous Devoid’s digitizing drones, Steven Universe’s Multiversus Force prepares for the worst beneath Wayne Manor. But with the Joker, the Wicked Witch, Harley Quinn, and Brainiac all under the same roof, it’s only a matter of time before an already explosive situation outright self-destructs!"[4]

MultiVersus: Collision Detected #6

Devoid finally arrives on Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman's world to collect fighters for his Imaginarium--whether the DCU likes it or not. With the existence of each Multiversal champion's home Earth on the line, Multiversus: Collision Detection reaches its kill screen...now!"[5]

Trivia

  • Scooby-Doo will appear in the comics, being the only NPC to do so.
    • Several characters who currently don't physically appear in the game such as Looney Tunes's Tweety Bird and Wile E. Coyote, and DC's Lois Lane and Darkseid will also appear in the comics.
      • Out of all these characters, Wicked Witch of the West is the only one that comes from a Universe that has yet to be represented in the game (being The Wizard of Oz).
  • Steven can be seen in his aged-up design from Steven Universe: The Movie in one of the promotional artworks done for the first issue of the comic series.
  • The second variant cover for Issue #2 appears to be an homage to the box art of the 1998 crossover fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes.
  • The first issue has the tagline "The Story Behind the Game Start Here!", implying that the comics are indeed canon to the game's story.
  • The synopses for Issues #5 and #6 mention a seemingly original villain named Devoid, who collects fighters for his Imaginarium using his "digitizing drones". Given their similar names, Devoid may be related to The Nothing.
