Shield Placement is a Heroic Defense Gem that can be equipped in MultiVersus.
Unlock Method
Rewards
Unlock via a Gem Booster, which can be earned through Battle Passes, Missions, Events, and in the PvE Rifts Mode.
A limited amount of Gem XP based on this Gem can also sometimes be picked for free from the "Daily Deals" section of the Store.

Function
This Gem gives the player a shield item upon starting a match and respawning, as well as granting a defense boost. The shield is similar to the one Steven Universe uses in his side special. The boost varies depending on the Gem's level.
