Gems are a type of power-up in MultiVersus designed for the PvE Rifts mode.
There are three types of Gems: Attack, Defense, and Utility. Gems are also categorized in various attunement themes that get introduced with each new Season.
Usage
Collecting gems will raise the player's stats and impart special effects. Gems can be leveled up with Gem XP up to level 20.
Earning Method
Gems can be mainly earned by receiving Gem Boosters via completing Node objectives in the Rifts mode, completing Rift Nodes with Daily Rewards, collecting Rift Star Meter rewards at the end of a Rift, and by completing certain Missions and Event objectives.
Gem XP can also be sometimes redeemed for free from the "Daily Deals" section of the Store. During Season 3, 700 Gem XP was also given for free in the Rift Store for the Anubis Companion Heroic Gem.
During Season 2 exclusively, 1 
could've been traded for Gem XP for the Pressure Point Discipline Gem.
Battle Pass
Gem XP can also be found in Battle Passes.
- Season 1 Battle Pass: Gem Boosters can be found in Tiers 5, 27, 30, 33, 44, 51, and 64. All of them are in the Free section of the Battle Pass minus Tiers 33 and 44.

Season 3 1.3.0 Patch
- Gems can now be leveled up to level 20 instead of level 10, but total maximum XP and maximum strength are unchanged. Current gems will scale to their new level based on their current XP, and level 10 gems will scale to level 20 gems with the start of Season 3.

- Each Gem Attunement is tied after the Fighter(s) that has been introduced in the same Season as them:
- The I Would Grab The Wrong Umbrella Chaos Gem's title references a quote said by The Penguin from DC in the "Almost Got 'Im" episode of the Batman: The Animated Series cartoon show.
- The Two Face's Coin Chaos Gem references Two-Face and his coin from DC.
- The Bubbles Companion Heroic Gem is currently the only Gem in the game whose icon escapes its front border.
