Steven Universe is a science-fantasy comedy series created by Rebecca Sugar for Cartoon Network, best known for tackling themes that were previously not addressed much in children television before. It stars the titular Steven, a young human-gem hybrid boy, who lives in the fictional town of Beach City alongside his father, Greg Universe, the Crystal Gems (Garnet, Amethyst, & Pearl), and his best friend, Connie. Most episodes of the original series focused mainly on Steven and the Crystal Gems trying to protect Earth from Corrupted Gems and The Diamond Authority. The series has also gotten a sequel TV show in the form of Steven Universe Future, a TV movie, and a plethora of video games, which notably includes a trilogy of RPGs centered around an original story developed by Grumpyface Studios.
The original TV series is also famously known for being one of the first cartoon series that aired on children television to prominently feature LGBTQ-coded characters in its main cast. It also had a significant amount of crossovers with other Cartoon Network original series, such as Uncle Grandpa and OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes.
The Steven Universe franchise was previously represented in Brawlhalla, making MultiVersus the second platform fighter the series has been featured in.
