Currency

MultiVersus features multiple types of Currency that can be used to purchase Fighters, Cosmetic Items, Bundles, Perks, and Premium Battle Pass tracks.

There are four main types of currency: Perk Currency, Fighter Road XP, Gleamium, and Prestige. Some currency types only appear during certain Events.

In Season 5, bonus lootcrates that can be achieved for free as a bonus for completing enough Daily and Weekly Missions can also reward players with currency.

PERK CURRENCY

Perk currency.png

Perk Currency is the currency used to purchase Perks.

Perk Currency can be earned simply by progressing through the Battle Pass, leveling up Fighters, completing Missions, leveling up the player's account, or progressing through Rifts. Certain Bundles and Events also include Perk Currency rewards. 1,000 Perk Currency can also be purchased with 125 Gleamium.

A limited amount of Perk Currency can also sometimes be picked for free from the "Daily Deals" section of the Store.

FIGHTER ROAD XP

Fighter Road XP.png

Fighter Road XP, short for Fighter Road Points, is the currency used in unlocking Fighters via Fighter Road.

Fighter Road XP is earned by playing matches, leveling up Fighters, or by progressing through the Battle Pass. Certain Events also have Fighter Road XP rewards.

PRESTIGE

Prestige currency.png

Prestige is the currency used to purchase exclusive cosmetics from the Prestige Store.

Prestige is earned simply by obtaining Cosmetic Items, either by buying them in the Store or by unlocking them through Events and Battle Passes. Each cosmetic item the player acquires awards them the Cosmetic's Prestige currency value based on its type and rarity. Items of Common rarity (including every Badge) do not award any Prestige currency. Event-exclusive currencies get converted into Prestige after their respective Event ends. Prestige can also be sometimes earned via Missions. As of Season 4, Prestige can also be earned by playing matches in the Arena mode.

An equivalent amount of Prestige currency was given out for the Open Beta players depending on how many Cosmetic Items they had acquired during that period.

A PRESTIGE rarity was briefly added for the HAHAHAHAHA Banner in the Season 4 1.4.3 Patch before being removed in the next patch. This rarity doesn't give back any Prestige, and will most likely only be used to represent cosmetics exclusive to the Prestige Shop.

Trivia

  • Fighter Road XP's icon is noticeably brighter in-game.
  • Fighter Road XP's icon was most likely initially intended to be used for Event XP, as it is labelled "eventxp" inside the game's files and has been there way before the introduction of the Fighter Road.
  • It is very possible that the crystal mentioned in Shaggy's official bio from the website that he ate and subsequently gained superhuman abilities was a Gleamium gem, as they somewhat resemble rock candy, though this theory has yet to be confirmed.
    • On January 13th, 2023, Tony Huynh, the CEO and CoFounder of Player First Games, retweeted someone's post regarding this theory on Twitter, giving it more credibility.[6]
  • In the Open Beta period, Toasts were used for gifting/receiving 20 Gold (or 15 Candy Hearts during the ValentiNeon event) to/from other players.
  • If the player Toasts someone while having the Default Announcer Pack equipped, the Default Announcer has a chance of saying "Toasty!". This is most probably a reference to the Toasty! easter egg from the Mortal Kombat franchise, a fighting game series also owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
  • In the victory animation for Combat Gizmo, he can be seen cooking a piece of Toast above a campfire.
  • During the Open Beta period, players could've also purchase 10 Toasts for 350 Gold. Toasts were also available in the Battle Pass and Fighters' Mastery Tracks.
  • In the Season 1.03 Patch, the XP required to go from levels 3 - 15 on the track has been doubled, since players were getting to Level 15 on the track too quickly.
  • In the Open Beta period, Battle Passes used to came alongside Seasonal Milestones that players could complete for more Battle Pass XP.
  • Despite being completely removed from the game, the XP Boost's icon is still used in-game for the pop-up that appears whenever a player levels up a Fighter.
